Dallas, TX — A heatwave is set to grip Dallas and much of Texas this week, with temperatures soaring into the triple digits and heat indexes pushing even higher. Beginning Monday and continuing through the weekend, residents in Dallas can expect daily highs ranging from 99°F to 102°F, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

The relentless heat, compounded by high humidity, will make outdoor conditions particularly hazardous. Heat indexes are expected to exceed 105°F during peak afternoon hours, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses. The National Weather Service advises residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day, and wear light-colored, breathable clothing.

In addition to the extreme temperatures, the stagnant weather pattern means little relief from the heat overnight, with lows barely dipping below 78°F. These conditions are particularly concerning for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.

As the week progresses, Dallas residents are urged to check on neighbors and take precautions to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Local authorities are preparing cooling centers for those in need of respite from the intense heat, and emergency services are on high alert for heat-related emergencies.
