Memphis, TN — A cold weather advisory is in effect for the Mid-South, with dangerously low wind chills expected through noon Monday. Temperatures will struggle to rise above freezing until midweek, impacting portions of Tennessee, North Mississippi, and East Arkansas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Memphis, wind chill values overnight into Monday morning could drop as low as 0°F to 10°F. The advisory begins at midnight Sunday and continues through Monday afternoon, posing frostbite risks with prolonged exposure in as little as 30 minutes.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, wear layered clothing, and check on vulnerable populations, including the elderly. The NWS also cautions against unsafe heating practices and recommends keeping portable heaters in well-ventilated areas.

High temperatures for the region are not forecast to climb above freezing until Wednesday, with Monday’s lows reaching the teens. Memphis could see a high of only 27°F on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Travelers should exercise caution, as icy conditions may develop in certain areas. The NWS advises monitoring local weather updates for potential impacts.
