Knoxville, TN – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of East Tennessee and parts of Southwest Virginia, with snow expected to impact roads and travel conditions starting late Tuesday night into Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, snowfall will begin as early as 11 p.m. CST in Sequatchie, Bledsoe, and Marion counties, where up to 2 inches of snow is expected in higher elevations and 1 inch in lower elevations. The advisory for these areas lasts until noon CST Wednesday.
Further east, including Johnson, Unicoi, and Sevier counties, snowfall is forecast to accumulate between 1 to 4 inches, with higher totals in elevated regions. This advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. EST Thursday.
A separate advisory covering Knoxville, Kingsport, and Bristol, along with parts of Southwest Virginia, warns of 1 to 3 inches of snow from 2 a.m. Wednesday until midnight. Slippery roads could impact both the morning and evening commutes.
