Raleigh, NC – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for much of central and southern North Carolina from 7 a.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday, as a mix of snow, sleet, and ice is expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Raleigh, the advisory covers areas including Raleigh, Durham, Fayetteville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. Snow and sleet accumulations are expected to range from one to three inches in northern areas, while southern parts of the state may see ice accumulations of up to two-tenths of an inch.
Officials warn that roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will become slick, posing risks for the Wednesday evening commute. The most treacherous conditions are expected late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night.
Residents are urged to drive cautiously, slow down, and prepare for potential travel disruptions. Those heading outdoors should take care on sidewalks and driveways, as icy surfaces could lead to falls and injuries.
For updated road conditions, North Carolina travelers can dial 511 or check local traffic updates.
