Knoxville, TN — Knox County officers faced a tense and challenging day Tuesday, responding to six different school threats across the county. The incidents led to the arrest of four students, with a bomb scare adding to the intensity.
The first threat occurred at Carter Middle School around 8:15 a.m., where a 13-year-old allegedly threatened to shoot up the school. Deputies acted quickly, arresting the eighth-grade student.
While that situation unfolded, a second threat surfaced at Halls Middle School, which was connected to an ongoing investigation. Soon after, Halls High School reported a third threat, which was determined to be a repost from social media.
The day continued with a separate social media threat at Gibbs High School, still under investigation. Another arrest came at West Valley Middle School, where a 12-year-old student was detained for allegedly making online threats.
By the afternoon, a bomb scare emerged at Halls Middle School. While no arrests have been made in this case, authorities are continuing their investigation. A final threat targeted Hardin Valley Academy.
Knox County law enforcement, supported by state and federal partners, praised the swift response that helped maintain student safety on a highly stressful day.
