Nashville, TN – The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) will deploy officers across key shopping hubs starting Friday. This enhanced presence aims to improve public safety and deter retail theft through Thanksgiving weekend.
According to MNPD, officers on foot, horseback, and in patrol cars will monitor locations such as Opry Mills Mall and Tanger Outlets. At Opry Mills, 18 officers will assist with traffic control while mounted officers and private security patrol parking areas. Motorists should use Briley Parkway exits to avoid congestion near the mall.
At Tanger Outlets in South Nashville, detectives will combat shoplifting alongside officers managing traffic. Tanger’s security team will work closely with MNPD. School Resource Officers will patrol Green Hills Mall and Nashville West to maintain visibility.
MNPD Aviation units will also monitor parking lots for suspicious activity and coordinate with ground units when needed. Traffic officers will focus on speeding and unbelted occupants, contributing to over 25% of Tennessee crashes this year.
Drivers are urged to buckle up, secure valuables, and use hands-free devices. Police emphasize vigilance to ensure a safe and festive shopping season.
