Chicago, IL – Carolina Prime Pet, Inc. has issued a recall for 16-ounce bags of “Hollywood Feed Carolina Made Chicken Chips” dog treats sold in Illinois, Texas, Florida, and 16 other states due to potential salmonella contamination.

The recall involves bags stamped with lot number 20051324L2 and an expiration date of 11/13/25, sold at Hollywood Feed stores and online. According to Carolina Prime Pet, third-party testing discovered contamination in a related, unreleased lot of the same product. While no illnesses have been reported, both pets and humans are at risk if the treats are consumed or handled improperly.

Salmonella infections in pets may cause lethargy, diarrhea, fever, and vomiting, while humans could experience symptoms such as nausea, abdominal cramping, and diarrhea. Consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately and contact the company for a refund or replacement by calling 828-394-6460 or emailing treats@carolinaprimepet.com.

The affected treats were distributed in 19 states, including California, New York, Georgia, and Tennessee. Additional states impacted are Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Texas.
