Pittsburgh, PA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of southwestern Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia as two winter systems bring snow, ice, and hazardous travel conditions through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the first system will deliver between 2 to 4 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice through early Wednesday morning. A second system, expected Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday, may bring additional mixed precipitation and significant freezing rain.

The advisory, which remains in effect until 4 a.m. Wednesday, covers higher elevations of Westmoreland and Fayette counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Preston, Monongalia, and Tucker counties in West Virginia. Officials warn that slippery roads could impact the Tuesday evening commute.

Residents are urged to use caution while traveling and report snow or ice accumulations to the National Weather Service via phone, Facebook, or Twitter.
