Omaha, NE – Southeast Nebraska residents should prepare for snowfall and hazardous roads this weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Forecasters predict more than 3 inches of snow in areas near the Kansas and Missouri borders.
According to the NWS, snow chances will increase Saturday night, continuing through Sunday into early Monday morning. Slippery and snow-covered roads are most likely Sunday afternoon through Sunday night, particularly south of Interstate 80. The probability of snow is highest (60-70%) in far southeast Nebraska.
Travelers are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and plan for potential delays. Local officials recommend having emergency kits ready in vehicles, including blankets, food, and water.
The snowstorm comes as part of a broader winter weather system sweeping through the Midwest. Nearby states, including Kansas and Missouri, are also expected to see significant snowfall.
