Homewood, IL – A Chicago man was struck and killed late Sunday while crossing Halsted Street in south suburban Homewood.
According to the Homewood Police Department, officers and fire personnel responded around 11:17 p.m. on March 30 to the 17600 block of Halsted Street following reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash. Investigators learned a black Dodge Ram traveling southbound struck a pedestrian who was reportedly running westbound across Halsted.
The 42-year-old male victim, a Chicago resident, was transported to a local hospital where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
The Homewood Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is leading the investigation with support from the Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team (SMART). Authorities have not released details regarding the driver’s status or if charges may be filed.
