Logansport, IN — A Logansport man was found guilty of multiple child molesting and sexual battery charges and could face up to 137 years in prison.
According to the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office, 39-year-old Scott E. VanArsdale was convicted last Friday following a trial involving four victims and evidence spanning several years. The jury also returned a second verdict declaring VanArsdale a habitual offender due to prior felony convictions.
Presiding Judge Lisa Swaim scheduled sentencing for April 24. VanArsdale now faces a maximum sentence of 137 years based on the charges and habitual offender status.
Prosecutor Noah Schafer praised the collaborative efforts that led to the conviction. “We are exceptionally proud of the work of the Cass County Sheriff’s Department in investigating the case,” Schafer said in a statement.
VanArsdale remains in custody at the Cass County Jail pending sentencing. The prosecutor’s office emphasized that the jury’s verdict ensures a dangerous offender will be removed from the community permanently.
Cass County officials have not released further details on the timeline of offenses due to the nature of the crimes and to protect victim privacy.
