Miami, FL – Heavy rainfall is anticipated across South Florida this upcoming weekend, raising concerns about potential urban flooding. Regardless of tropical storm development, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami forecasts increased moisture leading to higher rain chances throughout the region.
According to the NWS, the combination of increased moisture and tropical disturbances could result in significant rainfall. There is a medium (60%) chance of tropical development by this weekend as a disturbance moves west-northwest towards the Greater Antilles. While it is too early to predict specific impacts on South Florida, heavy rain is expected from Saturday through Sunday night.
The NWS warns that heavy rain over urban areas could lead to localized flooding. Current models indicate that rainfall will be most intense over the weekend, with a “limited” risk of excessive rainfall on Saturday and Sunday. Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest weather information and be prepared for potential flooding, especially in low-lying and urban areas.
Looking at the detailed forecast, Thursday is expected to be mostly cloudy with temperatures reaching up to 92°F. On Friday, conditions remain similar, with a high of 91°F. Rain chances increase to 55% on Saturday, with temperatures around 80°F to 88°F, and Sunday seeing a 60% chance of rain and slightly cooler temperatures between 78°F and 89°F. The early part of next week will continue with scattered showers, with rain chances of 45% on both Monday and Tuesday.
