Sioux Falls, South Dakota – Isolated severe storms could bring damaging wind gusts and small hail to north-central and northeastern South Dakota Saturday afternoon into the evening, especially north of the Highway 14 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Aberdeen, a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather has expanded and now includes areas from Lemmon to Sisseton, including cities like Mobridge, Aberdeen, Britton, and Watertown. The primary threats include wind gusts over 40 mph and small hail.
While the greatest risk remains north of Highway 14, areas farther south—including Pierre, Huron, and Chamberlain—may still see isolated strong storms as the system weakens and shifts southeast into the evening hours. Outdoor plans, especially in rural areas, should account for rapidly changing skies and brief periods of dangerous wind.
Residents are encouraged to secure loose objects, delay travel if storms develop, and monitor local alerts through the evening.
Additional weather updates and potential advisories remain possible as storm cells evolve through Saturday night.
