Cincinnati, Ohio – Thunderstorms with damaging winds could sweep across much of Ohio from Friday afternoon through Saturday night, with the greatest risk near the Ohio River and southern counties.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Wilmington, a front will move south into the region late Friday, triggering scattered storms. A marginal risk for severe weather stretches from Cincinnati to Columbus, with localized heavy rainfall expected Friday evening and again Saturday, potentially causing flash flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Cities including Dayton, Portsmouth, and Chillicothe may see strong wind gusts and quick rainfall bursts, while northern areas like Celina and Marysville are expected to stay drier. The highest risk of storm activity appears focused closer to the Kentucky border, especially by Saturday evening.

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads, secure outdoor items, and prepare for sudden downpours. Power outages could occur if winds down trees or lines.

This is part of an ongoing active weather pattern, though widespread severe storms remain unlikely. Updates will continue as the weekend approaches and conditions evolve.
