South Carolina Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Storms Expected in Columbia Through Wednesday

Columbia, SC — A wet and stormy week is ahead for South Carolina, with Columbia seeing periods of heavy rain and potential flooding through Wednesday. Drivers on I-26 should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility as storm chances increase.

According to the National Weather Service, showers will begin early Monday, with a 50% chance of rain increasing throughout the day. Highs will reach the low 50s, while winds will shift northeast at 8 mph. Overnight, rain chances jump to 80%, with continued showers into Tuesday.

Tuesday is expected to be the wettest day of the week, with a 70% chance of rain and highs near 50°F. Conditions will remain cloudy, and rain will persist into Tuesday night. By Wednesday, the Midlands will see an 80% chance of precipitation, with temperatures climbing to 57°F.

Residents should prepare for possible localized flooding and slower commutes. Those traveling on major highways, including I-26 and I-77, should remain cautious of slick roads.
