Shreveport, LA – Rain and thunderstorms are forecast to move into the region by midweek, potentially impacting travel and outdoor plans. Beginning Wednesday, scattered showers will spread across northwest Louisiana, intensifying into thunderstorms by evening. This system could persist through Friday, bringing heavy rain to areas along I-20 and I-49.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport, the rain will begin Wednesday afternoon with a 70% chance of showers. By Wednesday night, thunderstorms are likely, with an 80% chance of precipitation. While rainfall totals have not been finalized, forecasters warn that isolated downpours may cause localized flooding.
Temperatures will remain mild, with highs reaching the mid-50s on Wednesday and Thursday. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s to low 40s. Thursday’s forecast shows a slight chance of showers early, tapering off by afternoon, but conditions will stay mostly cloudy. Another round of rain is expected Friday, with a 50% chance of precipitation.
Drivers should use caution on wet roads, especially along I-20 and I-49, as slick conditions and reduced visibility could create hazards. Residents in low-lying areas should monitor for possible flood advisories and prepare accordingly.
The extended forecast shows drier weather returning by Saturday, with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s, providing some relief for the weekend.
