Blacksburg, VA – Freezing temperatures and light snow are forecast to hit Blacksburg and the surrounding areas as early as tonight, with frigid conditions persisting through midweek. A hazardous weather outlook warns of dangerous wind chills and limited snowfall that could make travel challenging, especially in higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), wind chills may dip into the single digits overnight into Tuesday. Flurries are possible tonight across parts of southwest Virginia, particularly near the mountains, with minor snow accumulation expected along the I-81 corridor. Residents should bundle up and take precautions against frostbite, especially during the early morning hours.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for sunny but unseasonably cold conditions, with a high near 32°F and a low of 18°F. Winds will come from the northwest at 7–10 mph, making it feel colder than the thermometer suggests.

Looking ahead to Wednesday, temperatures will slightly improve, reaching a high of 44°F. However, another round of rain and snow showers could develop late Wednesday evening, with a 20% chance of precipitation.

By Thursday, skies will clear, but daytime highs will remain near 39°F. Overnight lows are expected to plunge to 16°F, reinforcing the need for layered clothing and winterized vehicles. The week ends with sunny skies on Friday, though temperatures will struggle to exceed the mid-30s.
