Northeast Shelby County, TN – A parent was arrested Tuesday after bringing a loaded firearm onto Bolton High School property, authorities said.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Charmsia Sanders, 34, reportedly arrived at the school to check on a student. During the security screening, a metal detector flagged her purse. Upon further inspection, school resource officers allegedly found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun with 11 rounds. Sanders was arrested on charges of carrying a weapon on school property.
This marks the fourth firearm-related arrest this year at Bolton High School, raising concerns about campus safety.
Officials urged the community to follow regulations and prioritize a gun-free environment. The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that bringing firearms to school is illegal and endangers students and staff.
Parents are encouraged to communicate this rule within their communities to support a secure learning environment.
