Remsen, NY – A 24-year-old Remsen man was arrested after deputies say he allegedly took a truck, drove while impaired by drugs and bit another person’s hand during a physical domestic dispute in Oneida County.
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, Road Patrol deputies responded to Prospect Road in the town of Remsen at about 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, for a reported physical domestic incident in progress.
Investigators determined that Trevor Burns allegedly took a truck that did not belong to him from a separate residence in the town of Boonville before driving it to Prospect Road, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies allege Burns then became involved in a physical dispute with one of the people at the scene and bit the person’s hand, causing an injury.
The sheriff’s office also alleged Burns was under the influence of drugs while operating the vehicle and had a suspended driver’s license at the time.
Burns was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a Class E felony; third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor; and driving while ability impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.
The sheriff’s office said its investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are likely. Authorities also said Burns had pending New York State Police charges stemming from a separate incident.
Burns was taken to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and was being held at the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment in centralized arraignment court.
The charges are allegations. Burns is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
