Texas – Heat shimmers off pavement across San Antonio this afternoon, but clouds are quietly thickening as instability builds toward a stormy shift by Saturday. The air feels heavier, and winds are beginning to hint at change.

According to the National Weather Service, storm chances increase to 50% after early afternoon Saturday, with scattered thunderstorms capable of brief heavy rain and gusts up to 25 mph. Rainfall totals remain light overall, but isolated downpours could produce quick slick spots.

San Antonio and nearby communities along I-35 and Loop 410 will climb to near 92°F today under partly sunny skies. South-southeast winds will keep conditions warm and slightly breezy, masking the incoming system.

By Saturday afternoon into evening, showers and thunderstorms begin developing in pockets across Bexar County. Lightning and brief heavy rain could reduce visibility for drivers, especially during peak travel hours. Plan ahead and keep an umbrella within reach.

Rain chances increase further Saturday night, with a 60% likelihood of showers continuing into early Sunday. Wet pavement and reduced visibility may impact late-night travel.

Sunday brings a cooler shift, with highs dropping into the low 70s under partly sunny skies. Winds turn northeasterly, adding a noticeably cooler feel compared to today’s heat.

Early next week stays unsettled, with additional storm chances returning Monday and Tuesday before gradual warming midweek.
