San Antonio, TX – A prolonged stretch of hot and mostly sunny weather is expected across San Antonio and south-central Texas through the weekend before rain chances slowly return next week.

According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will bring sunny skies and highs near 90 degrees across the metro area. Winds will remain relatively light through the afternoon while humidity levels continue building across south Texas.

Forecasters say mostly clear conditions continue Wednesday night with overnight lows staying mild near 67 degrees. Another hot and sunny day is expected Thursday with highs climbing to around 91 degrees and occasional wind gusts reaching 20 mph.

Temperatures continue rising Friday and Saturday with highs expected near 92 degrees both days. Partly sunny skies and breezy southeast winds will dominate the forecast heading into the weekend, while overnight temperatures remain unusually warm in the 70s.

An air quality alert remains in effect for parts of the region, and sensitive groups may want to limit prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the afternoon.

Rain and thunderstorm chances gradually return Sunday night into early next week as Gulf moisture increases across south-central Texas. Scattered showers and storms become more likely Monday and Tuesday while temperatures remain above average for mid-May.
