San Angelo, Texas – Rain and isolated thunderstorms will develop overnight, potentially creating slick roads and slowing the Monday morning commute across west central Texas.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, widely scattered showers will increase late tonight into Monday, with rain chances ranging from 40 to 70 percent across the region. The highest coverage is expected south of I-20, including San Angelo, Junction, and Brady, where storm chances may exceed 60 percent by early Monday morning.

Cities along the I-20 corridor, including Abilene and Sweetwater, could see intermittent showers with lighter coverage, while heavier pockets of rain may develop farther south toward Sonora and Ozona. Any thunderstorms that form could produce brief downpours and reduced visibility on roadways.

Temperatures will remain cooler than normal, with highs Monday staying in the low to mid-60s. Wet pavement and reduced visibility may impact travel along major routes including I-20, US-87, and US-277, especially between 5 a.m. and noon Monday.

Residents should allow extra travel time, use headlights in rain, and avoid driving through water-covered roads. Outdoor plans may be disrupted through Monday before rain chances begin to decrease Tuesday afternoon.

Additional updates will be issued if storms become stronger or more widespread across the region.
