Braidwood, IL – Federal nuclear regulators will host a public meeting in Braidwood later this month to discuss the safety performance of the Braidwood Nuclear Generating Station during 2025.

According to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the open forum is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. CDT at Braidwood City Hall, located at 141 W. Main Street in Braidwood. The meeting will focus on the NRC’s annual safety assessment for Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2, which are operated by Constellation Energy Generation, LLC.

Officials said NRC staff members will present the agency’s review of the plant’s 2025 operational and safety performance before opening the session for public questions and discussion. The event is being classified as an information meeting with a question-and-answer session, allowing residents to speak directly with NRC representatives regarding regulatory and technical matters related to plant operations.

According to the agency, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide comments about issues discussed during the meeting, although the NRC noted it will not actively solicit comments tied to regulatory decisions during the forum. NRC representatives expected to attend include Reactor Projects Branch 3 Chief Dariusz Szwarc, Senior Resident Inspector John Robbins, and Resident Inspector Phillip Smagacz.

Additional information regarding the NRC’s annual assessment process and Braidwood Station’s performance records is available through the NRC website and public document system. Officials also noted that meeting schedules could change because of unforeseen circumstances, including severe weather.
