Romeoville, IL – Families in Will County will have a chance to celebrate the natural world at the Pollinator Party this Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Isle a la Cache Museum in Romeoville.
The free event, hosted by the Forest Preserve District of Will County, promises a day full of nature-inspired activities, including a native plant sale, live animal exhibits, nature crafts and hands-on challenges designed to educate and entertain visitors of all ages.
According to the Forest Preserve District, the native plant sale will offer pollinator-friendly plants at $3 per plug on a first-come, first-served basis. Experts from The Nature Foundation of Will County and Nicor Gas will be available to provide planting advice and answer questions about native species.
“This year’s Pollinator Party is bigger and better than ever,” said Jen Guest, facility supervisor at Isle a la Cache. “Kids and families will love the expanded Pollinator Challenge Course where they can dress up as pollinators and race to pollinate flowers.”
Attendees can also visit a live bat exhibit by Incredible Bats, explore an upgraded Insect Safari, enjoy the bloom of the pollinator garden, and check out the Smithsonian Gardens’ “Pollination Investigation” exhibit before it closes June 22. A local beekeeper will be on-site sharing insights into the lives of bees.
Food trucks Tacos Maui and Kona Ice will be on hand for food and frozen treat purchases.
The event is sponsored by The Nature Foundation of Will County with support from Citgo Petroleum Corporation.
“Each year, the Pollinator Party grows and so does its impact,” Guest said. “Come be part of a community that celebrates and supports the natural world.”
