Janesville, WI – A Beloit man was arrested Tuesday after a search warrant executed by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office as part of an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation resulted in multiple charges involving alleged possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Detective Bureau and Special Investigations Unit executed an ICAC search warrant at approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in the 2000 block of Masters Street in Beloit.
Investigators said the warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation into the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The Janesville Police Department’s Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K-9, Maui, assisted during the operation.
Authorities identified the suspect as Chad D. Bertelsen, 38, of Beloit.
According to the sheriff’s office, Bertelsen was taken into custody and is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of virtual child pornography, as those offenses are defined under Wisconsin law.
The sheriff’s office said Bertelsen is scheduled to make his initial appearance in Rock County Jail Court on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 3 p.m.
No additional information about the investigation was released.
The charges are allegations, and Bertelsen is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
