LaSalle County, IL – The LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public to an increase in phishing email scams. Scammers are using publicly available information to make their emails appear credible, often referencing workplaces or home addresses. They may also use Google images of workplaces to boost the legitimacy of their deception.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, scammers create emails that request personal information or urge recipients to click suspicious links. These emails can contain sensitive details about an individual’s employer or home. Attachments or links in the emails may seem legitimate but can lead to malicious sites.

The Sheriff’s Office advises residents to always verify the sender’s email address before engaging with unsolicited messages. They recommend reporting any suspicious emails to an IT department or local authorities.
