Peoria, IL Teen Arrested on Attempted Home Invasion Charges

Peoria, IL – A 16-year-old juvenile was arrested Thursday night following a disturbance investigation in Peoria that led to multiple charges and the discovery of a shotgun inside a residence, according to police.

According to the Peoria Police Department, officers were dispatched around 9:04 p.m. Thursday to the 600 block of R.B. Garrett after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a male subject.

While officers were en route, additional information indicated the juvenile suspect was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with another male.

Police said officers arrived at the scene, intervened, and separated the individuals involved in the fight. During the investigation, officers detained the juvenile, who allegedly briefly resisted officers before being taken into custody without further incident.

While taking the suspect into custody, officers reported observing a shotgun inside the residence in plain view.

The 16-year-old was subsequently arrested on allegations of attempted home invasion, aggravated battery, and resisting police. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

According to police, two adult occupants of the residence were also arrested for unlawful use of a weapon and issued Notices to Appear.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to violent crimes in the area to contact the Peoria Police Department or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.

All suspects and arrestees are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
