Peoria, IL – A 22-year-old man was fatally shot early Monday on North Crimshaw Drive after Peoria police responded to a report of car break-ins. Officers arrived at the 8900 block around 12:11 a.m. to investigate reports of four men allegedly breaking into vehicles.
While en route, officers learned that multiple gunshots had been fired in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Peoria County Coroner will release the victim’s identity and official cause of death. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit launched an investigation but have not identified any suspects.

This incident remains under investigation, with detectives actively pursuing leads to understand what transpired during the reported vehicle break-ins.
