State College, PA – Rain and thunderstorms will continue across central Pennsylvania through Thursday before a major warmup arrives heading into the weekend and early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday across the State College area, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will remain cooler near 66 degrees while gusty southwest winds could reach 23 mph at times.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms may continue Wednesday night before gradually tapering off. Additional scattered showers remain possible Thursday with highs only reaching the mid-50s under mostly cloudy skies.
Forecasters say conditions improve significantly by Friday as drier air moves into the region. Sunshine returns with temperatures climbing back near 70 degrees Friday afternoon.
The warming trend accelerates over the weekend as highs surge into the upper 70s and lower 80s under mostly sunny skies. By Sunday and Monday, temperatures are expected to approach the upper 80s and lower 90s across much of central Pennsylvania, bringing the warmest stretch of weather so far this season.
Another chance of scattered showers could return by Tuesday, though warm temperatures are expected to continue.
