Pennsylvania – Darkening skies and rising humidity are setting the stage for storms to fire across Pittsburgh this afternoon, with impacts likely during the late-day commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 2 p.m., with some storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts. A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) is in place today, with a higher Slight Risk (Level 2 of 5) expected Wednesday as stronger storms organize.

Temperatures climb to around 83°F today and near 87°F Wednesday, fueling instability across Allegheny County and nearby parts of eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. Roads like I-376, I-79, and Route 28 could see sudden slowdowns as heavy rain reduces visibility and water collects on pavement.

Storm chances continue in waves. Wednesday brings another 40% chance of storms, followed by increasing rain coverage Thursday night into Friday, when precipitation chances rise to 60%. Conditions may deteriorate quickly during afternoon and evening hours each day.

Plan ahead if traveling later today. Keep devices charged and monitor alerts closely. Wind gusts could down small branches or cause brief power disruptions.

By Saturday, a brief break arrives with partial sunshine and highs in the mid-80s, though additional showers may return later in the weekend.

Five Day Outlook for Pittsburgh, PA
Today: Chance of storms after 2 p.m., high near 83°F
Tonight: Chance of storms, low around 67°F
Wednesday: Chance of storms, high near 87°F
Thursday: Chance of showers, high near 84°F
Friday: Showers likely, high near 78°F
