Pennsylvania – Snow stacks up fast along Broad Street this morning as wind-driven bands sweep across Philadelphia, cutting visibility to a half mile and dropping fresh inches in a matter of hours. Wet pavement has turned slushy and slick, and gusts near 40 mph whip snow into blinding bursts. Travel is already slowing on I-95 and the Schuylkill Expressway.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. today for Philadelphia and much of South Jersey. An additional 5 to 12 inches of snow is expected, with snowfall rates reaching 1 to 3 inches per hour at times. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, producing near-whiteout conditions and scattered power outages.

City crews are plowing, but heavy, wet snow continues to cling to trees and power lines. SEPTA riders should expect delays. Drivers should avoid non-essential travel and keep emergency kits in their vehicles. Call 511 for the latest road conditions.

Skies begin to clear late tonight, and Tuesday turns mostly sunny with a high near 33 degrees. Temperatures dip into the lower 20s Tuesday night, and a light snow chance returns early Wednesday before a brief rain mix. Even small accumulations could create slick spots, especially with late-day melting and refreezing — classic flash freeze conditions this time of year.

By Thursday and Friday, highs rebound into the mid-40s. Next weekend trends milder, with readings near 50 degrees and early hints of spring warmth into the 6- to 10-day outlook.

Five Day Outlook for Philadelphia, PA
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 33°F.
Wednesday: Chance of rain and snow, high 45°F.
Thursday: Rain and snow likely, high 44°F.
Friday: Partly sunny, high 44°F.
Saturday: Sunny, high 51°F.
