Dulac, LA – A pedestrian died following a hit-and-run crash on Louisiana Highway 57 near Avet Street on Monday night. Louisiana State Police Troop C responded to the scene around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by an unknown vehicle.
The preliminary investigation shows that the pedestrian was on or near LA Hwy 57 when a dark-colored pickup truck, traveling northbound, struck them. The driver did not stop or contact law enforcement and fled the scene. Authorities are withholding the identity of the pedestrian pending notification of next of kin.
The victim sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an out-of-area hospital. On Tuesday, police were notified that the pedestrian had died from their injuries.
