Pedestrian Killed in Joliet Traffic Crash on North Larkin Avenue

Joliet, IL – A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday morning at the intersection of North Larkin Avenue and Vernon Street. The crash involved a 55-year-old woman and a Nissan Sentra driven by a 25-year-old man from Joliet.

According to the Joliet Police Department, officers responded to the crash at 5:29 a.m. The vehicle was traveling north on North Larkin Avenue in the inside lane when it struck the woman. Authorities believe the victim was crossing the road at the time of the collision.

Emergency crews transported the woman to St. Joseph Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Officials have not yet released her identity, pending notification of family. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Investigators closed the roadway for several hours to reconstruct the crash scene. The Will County Coroner’s Office will determine the victim’s cause and manner of death.

This incident remains under investigation by the Joliet Police Department. Authorities have asked anyone with video footage or additional details to contact the department’s Traffic Unit at (815) 724-3193.
