Parts of Kentucky Watch for Minor Flooding, Heat Wave This Weekend

Paducah, KY – Early Saturday morning, a small complex of storms dropped 1.5-2 inches of rain in southern Illinois, prompting a flood advisory until 7 AM for the Murphysboro, Carbondale, and Makanda areas. According to the US National Weather Service in Paducah, minor flooding issues may occur, urging caution for drivers on water-logged roads.

A few stray thunderstorms will persist today across southern Illinois and into the Evansville Tri-State area. This weather will give way to increasingly hot and humid conditions from Sunday through Tuesday, with daily peak heat index values reaching 100 to 105 degrees. Residents are advised to prepare for the heat and stay hydrated.

The five-day outlook predicts isolated storms today, with temperatures ranging from 89 to 94 degrees. Sunday and Monday will be particularly hot, with temperatures between 92 to 97 degrees and peak heat indices of 100 to 105 degrees. Tuesday will remain hot with temperatures from 93 to 97 degrees, though isolated thunderstorms are expected to offer brief respite. The next significant chance of widespread rain arrives on Wednesday, with temperatures dropping slightly to 81-88 degrees and scattered thunderstorms predicted.
