Orlando, Florida — Strong southwest to west winds will ramp up across central Florida Saturday, with gusts reaching 35 mph between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., creating hazardous driving conditions and blowing debris across roads in Orlando, Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Kissimmee and Sanford.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph will spread across Volusia, Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Brevard counties through the afternoon, with the strongest gusts expected during the early to mid-afternoon hours.

This is part of a broader system driving dry, breezy conditions across the Florida Peninsula, increasing the risk of scattered power flickers and minor tree damage as winds peak.

Loose outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash bins may be blown into roadways, while small tree limbs could snap and fall, especially in neighborhoods and along exposed corridors like I-4 and I-95. Crosswinds may make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles, particularly on bridges and open stretches near Daytona Beach and Titusville.

Drivers should keep both hands on the wheel and reduce speed in gusty conditions, while residents should secure outdoor objects before winds intensify.

The strongest impacts are expected between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., when wind gusts peak and travel conditions become most hazardous.
