Louisville, Kentucky — Isolated light rain and breezy conditions are moving across western Kentucky Saturday afternoon, with scattered showers between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. expected to create slick roads and brief visibility drops in Louisville, Bowling Green, Owensboro and Elizabethtown.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, rain chances remain limited mainly west of Interstate 65, with only a slight chance of thunder west of I-165 as cooler air and gusty north-northwest winds move through the region.

This is part of a broader system keeping temperatures below normal this weekend before a gradual warmup next week, increasing the risk of frost overnight as skies clear.

Light rain may quickly dampen pavement along I-65 and I-165, with water collecting on low-lying stretches and rural roads, especially near drainage-prone areas outside Bowling Green and Owensboro. Gusty winds could also push lightweight debris onto roadways during the afternoon.

Conditions turn colder overnight, with widespread frost developing between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. Sunday as temperatures fall into the mid-30s. Cold air settling into valleys and low-lying neighborhoods may lead to localized freezing conditions and plant damage.

Drivers should slow on wet roads this afternoon, and residents should cover or bring in sensitive plants before temperatures drop overnight.

The most critical frost window will occur between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday, when temperatures approach freezing across central and western Kentucky.
