Oregon Thunderstorms: Severe Weather and Hail Expected Until 9 p.m.

Pendleton, OR – Severe thunderstorms are expected across Pendleton and surrounding areas today, with the most intense activity likely between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton warns of strong winds, hail, and lightning as the main threats.

According to the NWS, winds could reach over 60 mph, and small to severe hail is possible. Residents in Central Oregon, especially those in the foothills of the Blues and lower Columbia Basin, should prepare for the worst of these storms.

Following today’s storms, Pendleton will see a significant shift in weather:

•   Tuesday: Conditions will clear up, with sunny skies and temperatures reaching a high of 86°F. Overnight lows will drop to around 60°F.
•   Wednesday: The sun will continue to shine, bringing warmer temperatures, with highs climbing to 92°F. Overnight lows will cool to 56°F.
•   Thursday: The warming trend continues, with a high of 96°F under sunny skies. Expect a mild evening with lows near 60°F.
•   Friday: Temperatures will peak at 98°F, making it one of the hottest days of the week. Overnight temperatures will remain warm, around 62°F.
•   Saturday: The heat intensifies with a high near 99°F. Sunny conditions will persist, and lows will be around 64°F.

Once the storms pass, Pendleton will face a period of hot, dry weather. Residents should prepare for rising temperatures by staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours later in the week.
