Lake County, Illinois: Man Killed After Hitting Tree in Antioch Early Monday Morning

Antioch, IL — A man died early Monday morning after his car struck a tree in unincorporated Antioch. Authorities responded to the scene around 4:45 a.m., near Grass Lake Road and Bluff Lane.

Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies found a heavily damaged 2009 Pontiac Vibe on the south side of the roadway. Both the car and tree sustained significant damage. The male driver, who remains unidentified, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the Lake County Coroner’s Office responded and scheduled an autopsy. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Technical Crash Investigations Team are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The incident remains under active investigation. Authorities urge motorists to always wear seatbelts to prevent similar tragedies.
