Houston, TX – Scattered storms are expected to impact the Texas coast throughout Labor Day, with heavy rainfall and potential flooding. Galveston has already recorded 1-2 inches of rain this morning, with more anticipated.
According to the National Weather Service, parts of the coast could see up to 6 inches of rainfall today. Locations south of the I-10 corridor are forecasted to receive between 1-3 inches, leading to potential isolated street flooding. The timing of these downpours is expected between late morning and this afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a slight risk of excessive rainfall for the region. They warn residents to remain alert for flash flooding, especially in low-lying areas and streets prone to water accumulation.
High temperatures are expected to reach the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Residents are advised to remain weather-aware and avoid flooded roads, particularly as they enjoy Labor Day activities. As always, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” when encountering flooded roadways.
