Oregon Teen Suspects Arrested in Double Homicide This Week, Authorities Say

Eugene, OR – Three individuals, including two juveniles, were arrested in connection with a double homicide discovered southeast of Oakridge, Oregon, authorities announced Wednesday.

According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, a male adult and a juvenile female were found deceased on Monday evening. Investigators determined both died as a result of homicidal violence.

By Tuesday morning, Lane County detectives, working with Eugene Police SWAT, detained suspects from a vehicle near 7th Avenue and Monroe Street in Eugene. A third suspect was located and apprehended later at a residence on Irving Road.

Following investigation, authorities charged a 16-year-old male from Eugene with two counts of first-degree murder, second-degree abuse of a corpse, strangulation, and unlawful use of a firearm. A 15-year-old female, also from Eugene, faces charges of first-degree murder and second-degree abuse of a corpse.

Additionally, Hunter Jesse Kip Barnett, a 19-year-old adult male from Eugene, was arrested and lodged at the Lane County Jail on a charge of second-degree abuse of a corpse.

The sheriff’s office expressed gratitude to the FBI, Oregon State Police, and Eugene Police for their role in the investigation and arrests. No other suspects are currently believed to be at large, and authorities say there is no ongoing public danger.
