Indiana Shooting Investigation: One Dead, One Wounded in South Bend Wednesday Night

South Bend, IN – A South Bend man was killed and another injured in a shooting late Wednesday night that has prompted a multi-city police investigation.

According to the South Bend Police Department, officers responded just before 9:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire near Jefferson Boulevard and Logan Street. When officers arrived, they discovered a person suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. That individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation then extended to Mishawaka after police were alerted to a second individual with an apparent gunshot wound. That person was transported to a hospital for treatment. No further details on their condition were made available.

Police emphasized that there is currently no ongoing threat to the public. The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incident.
