Oklahoma City, Okla. – Severe thunderstorms are expected across much of Oklahoma through 9 p.m. Tuesday, with damaging winds, large hail, and dangerous lightning threatening 46 counties across the state.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 9 p.m. CDT for central, eastern, and southwestern Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Norman, Lawton, and Stillwater. Storms may bring wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail up to 2 inches in diameter.
Counties under the watch include Oklahoma, Tulsa, Cleveland, Canadian, Payne, and Comanche, among others. Urban areas could face traffic disruptions, downed power lines, and localized flooding. Rural regions may experience delayed emergency response due to blocked roads or outages.
Residents should secure outdoor items, stay off roadways during storms, and monitor NOAA weather radio or local alerts. Charge mobile devices in case of power loss and avoid sheltering under trees.
Further advisories may be issued as storms intensify. The current watch remains active until 9 p.m., with additional updates expected by early evening.
