Oklahoma City, Okla. – A line of severe thunderstorms is expected to develop across western and central Oklahoma Monday evening, with threats of damaging winds up to 70 mph and large hail possible in 26 counties through 1 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 358 remains in effect until 1 a.m. CDT and includes counties from Alfalfa and Beckham to Oklahoma County and Woodward. The watch covers both rural areas and key travel corridors, with potential impacts stretching into the early morning hours.

Cities like Lawton, Weatherford, Enid, and Clinton could see storms intensify by late evening. Strong winds may down power lines and trees, while hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter could damage vehicles and roofs. Drivers on I-40 and U.S. Highway 183 are urged to use caution as visibility could drop rapidly in heavy rain.

Residents should charge devices, secure loose outdoor items, and remain weather-aware overnight. Emergency management officials recommend staying indoors and avoiding travel unless necessary, especially in areas where storm activity becomes severe.

This is Oklahoma’s second widespread severe weather watch in as many weeks. Additional watches or warnings may be issued as the storm system continues eastward overnight.
