Cleveland, OH – Drivers in Northwest Ohio are waking up to hazardous travel conditions Wednesday morning as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Dense Fog Advisory in effect through 9 a.m.

According to the NWS Cleveland office, dense fog developed overnight and is reducing visibility to less than one quarter mile in some areas. Officials warn that travel could be dangerous, especially along highways and rural routes where fog tends to settle more heavily.

Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and increase distance between vehicles. Live highway cameras early Wednesday showed near-whiteout conditions on stretches of Interstate 75 near US-68/SR-15 and SR-18, underscoring the need for caution.

The advisory covers multiple counties in Northwest Ohio, including areas surrounding Toledo and Findlay. Weather officials say conditions should gradually improve after sunrise as temperatures rise and fog lifts.

Drivers are encouraged to stay alert during their morning commute. “Even short trips can become hazardous when visibility drops quickly,” forecasters noted.

The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
