Eureka, CA – Isolated thunderstorms are forecast for Northern California Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, bringing the potential for cloud-to-ground lightning, small hail, and gusty winds.

According to the US National Weather Service in Eureka, the storms carry a 10–20% chance of forming mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. The areas most likely to be affected include eastern Trinity County, northeast Mendocino County, and northern Lake County.

Residents in these mountainous regions should remain alert as lightning can strike with no warning, often several miles from the parent storm. While rainfall totals may remain low, localized impacts from lightning and sudden wind gusts could pose safety risks for outdoor activities and increase wildfire potential in dry areas.

The National Weather Service advises residents and visitors to take precautions: “When thunder roars, go indoors.” People are urged to stop outdoor activities at the first sign of darkening skies or thunder and seek shelter inside a building or vehicle.
