Northeast Wisconsin Weather Alert Today: Green Bay Roads Turn Slushy as Snow Lingers

Wisconsin wakes to a muted world of gray skies, soft flakes, and reduced visibility along familiar routes.

Across northeast Wisconsin, a Weather Alert remains active early today as light snow continues around Green Bay. Temperatures hover near 29 degrees, and visibility drops at times under snow and fog. Roads look merely wet in spots, but traction can change block by block.

This morningโ€™s commute takes the biggest hit. Light snowfall coats untreated roads and ramps, creating slushy and slick conditions. Travel slows along I-41, I-43, and Highway 172, where braking distances increase. Even after all, snow rates stay light, the timing catches drivers off guard.

By midmorning, snowfall tapers from west to east. Clouds linger, and highs reach near 32 degrees, just enough to limit additional accumulation. Winds remain light, but damp pavement keeps winter hazards in play.

Conditions improve briefly this afternoon. Some clearing develops, allowing roads to recover. Still, shaded areas may remain slick. Plan extra time if traveling late morning into early afternoon.

Tonight turns colder and clearer. Temperatures drop near 3 degrees, allowing melted snow to refreeze. That sets the stage for flash freezing, especially on bridges and less-traveled streets.

Saturday brings another change. Clouds increase, and a new round of light snow becomes possible later in the day. While amounts look minor, any snowfall on cold pavement can renew slick spots quickly.

Sunday stays mostly cloudy with highs near 29 degrees, then gradual improvement arrives early next week. Monday climbs into the mid-30s, and a broader warming trend develops by midweek. Meteorologists continue tracking milder air pushing into the Upper Midwest.

For now, slow down and stay alert. Winter conditions can change fast.
