Grand Forks, ND – Residents should brace for hot and stormy weather through the weekend. A heat wave is expected to push temperatures into the 80s on Saturday and the low 90s on Sunday. Humidity levels will also rise, creating heat indices near 100 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog may develop Saturday morning, reducing visibility below a mile. However, the main concern will be the heat and the potential for severe storms on Sunday afternoon and evening. Forecasters have issued a slight risk (level 2 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms, which could bring damaging winds and heavy rain.

Looking ahead to Monday, temperatures will moderate slightly, reaching around 80 degrees with overcast skies. This break in the heat will continue into Tuesday, with a chance of rain and highs in the mid-70s.

By midweek, Grand Forks will experience a cooler, more stable pattern, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s under mostly sunny skies. The extreme weather this weekend serves as a reminder to stay alert and prepared.
