Grand Forks, ND – Widespread rain is sweeping through North Dakota today, affecting areas from Fargo to Pembina and into northwest Minnesota. As of early Thursday, over two inches of rain have already fallen in some regions, including Grand Forks and East Grand Forks.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Forks, the rainfall, which began around midnight, is expected to continue throughout the morning, with the heaviest precipitation concentrated in the Red River Valley. A surface low and upper low are forming over the area, potentially leading to more rain spreading west toward Devils Lake.
Today’s high in Grand Forks is projected to reach 71°F, but persistent rain will keep conditions cool and damp. As we head into the weekend, the forecast shows a 40% chance of showers on Friday with a high of 76°F. However, skies are expected to clear by Saturday, bringing partly sunny conditions and a high near 79°F.
Looking ahead to Sunday and beyond, North Dakota residents can expect a return to sunnier, warmer weather. Sunday’s high is forecasted at 80°F with clear skies, continuing through Monday and Tuesday with highs in the low 80s.
