Charlotte, North Carolina – Scattered showers could dampen plans Wednesday night in Charlotte as a weak weather system slides into the region, bringing cooler evening breezes ahead of a weekend warm-up.

According to the National Weather Service, a 40% chance of showers arrives after 9 p.m. Wednesday, with southeast winds becoming calm overnight. While daytime conditions Wednesday will remain partly sunny with highs near 85°F, the real story is the climb into the upper 80s and even 90°F by Saturday.

Drivers on I-77 and throughout Mecklenburg County should remain alert Wednesday night, as light rain could create slick conditions on roads not yet dried from earlier humidity. Winds will remain gentle, but visibility may drop during intermittent showers.

Thursday remains partly cloudy with highs near 81°F, followed by a 30% chance of evening showers on Friday. The weekend brings classic summer heat, with Saturday peaking around 90°F under partly sunny skies.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours. Those heading outdoors on Saturday or Sunday should monitor air quality and UV levels.

More showers may return by Sunday and Monday, with a 50–60% chance of rain and thunderstorms Sunday night into Monday.

⚠️ Weather alerts may be updated later this week. Check NWS or local emergency management for the latest advisories.
