Missouri – Skies are turning unstable across the St. Louis region, and the air feels heavier by the hour as storms begin organizing to the west. Roads are still mostly dry now, but conditions could shift quickly as thunderstorms develop later today.

According to the National Weather Service in St. Louis, thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and continue into the evening, with some storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes.

St. Louis and nearby communities, including areas along I-64, I-44, and I-55, will see temperatures climb to near 87°F before storms arrive after 3 p.m. Moist, unstable air will fuel stronger cells capable of heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Plan for rapidly changing conditions during the evening commute.

Storms intensify into tonight, with a near 100% chance of rain and embedded thunderstorms. Some areas could see heavy downpours that lead to water pooling on roads and reduced visibility. If warnings are issued, move indoors immediately and avoid travel during the heaviest storms.

Saturday brings a cooldown, with lingering showers early and highs falling to the upper 50s. Conditions improve quickly by Sunday, with sunshine and highs near the upper 60s returning to the region.

Early next week looks quieter, with dry weather and highs climbing back into the 70s under mostly sunny skies.

More alerts may be issued as storms develop. Are you seeing storms building yet, or still dry where you are?
